You Are My Only Love

A seemingly solid marriage is quietly tested when an unexpected emotional bond pulls its two partners into a fragile love triangle. What begins as a private awakening of long-suppressed feelings gradually exposes cracks beneath the surface of everyday life, forcing all involved to confront desire, loyalty, and the fear of losing what once felt unshakable.

The Russian title comes from a song by Yuri Vizbor that recurs throughout the film, reflecting the nostalgic mood and emotional depth of the story.

The screenplay is based on the play We’re Going to Watch “Chapaev” by Oleg Danilov.

During post-production the director Dmitry Astrakhan had to dub a crucial line (originally written for the main character) himself in the voice of lead actor Aleksandr Zbruyev, because Zbruyev had already left the country.

The film won several awards in Russia and abroad — for example, Best Actress at the Nika Awards for Marina Neyolova, and prizes at film festivals including Kinotavr-93 and the Cairo International Film Festival.

In later Russian TV broadcasts, a scene involving a gay character was cut to comply with modern censorship laws.
